How to access host without viewer

I am still learning

I can access a site using viewer ok.
I can also ping site: Example ping sitename.com
But when I try using browser ( I.E.)
for example 
http://sitename.com:5800
browser says done and shows
a blank window with a red X in left top corner.
If I type in
http://sitename.com:5900
it says done and displays  RFB 004.000

If I type sitename.com::5800
it says page not found.

Is there some standalone version I can download
that I can put on my Flash drive to make it
portable?
