Keyboard layout and "extended characters"/extra shift key problems

Hello! Here is a bug report and a request for an enhancement for non- 
US users.

I've used VNC Viewer 4.2.9 for long on Mac OS 10.4 (10.4.11) with my  
non-US (Swedish) keyboard connected to a Mac mini, with no problem  
while connected to a Suse Linux host (terminal window, shell and Emacs).

On Mac OS 10.5.2, with both VNC Viewer 4.3.3 & 4.4.2 (r13117) on a  
Powerbook, VNC always interprets key presses according to the US  
keyboard layout. How come? Some keyboard handling difference in  
Leopard? (I'm quite sure this worked before Leopard on this Powerbook  
too.)

Related problem: Some (as this G4) Powerbook keyboards just have a  
left alt key. This left key is now always passed by VNC to the server.  
For non-US users, it must still be possible to input characters via  
some extra shift (alt) key, so it must be configurable to use the left  
alt key for this also. Note that this extra shift key is necessary for  
inputting ASCII characters, both printable and control, as non-ASCII  
characters occupy the non-alt key positions. So not having an alt key  
makes the viewer mostly unusable (you can't input [, {, |, \, $ etc.).  
Also, using both the left and the right alt keys (when they exist) for  
this alt key purpose is also desired, as this is what you are used to  
using outside of VNC. So, make both left and right key possible to  
configure for "extended characters".
