F8 on FC 5 Gnome going to a Win2k3 Server

Although this doesn't really solve your problem, you can break out of such a
bad situation more simply than by rebooting. Type Control-Alt-F1 to get to a
linux console login; log in as yourself and then kill the vncviewer process
(for example by typing killall vncviewer). Then Control-Alt-F7 will get you
back to your X desktop.

Your linux box has at least 7 virtual consoles (accessed via F1 through F7)
each of which can support a console login or a graphical desktop.
