wlan and vnc

As long as you aren't using any king of node partitioning on your WLAN,
the first case should work. If you are using some sort of setting that
only lets WLAN nodes talk to the AP, and then to the LAN, then it won't
work. As Robin said, it's a network connection issue. Absent any kind of
firewall/port filtering, if you can ping the target host, vnc should
work.

This is really not a VNC question, but a network question (and you've
not provided anywhere near enough information to answer it - you'd need
to give info on IP addresses, netmasks, firewalls/NAT devices).  VNC
works over standard TCP/IP connections, so providing you can route from
one system to the other (e.g. if ping works), then VNC should also work.
