No, I'm afraid it sounds like you're not. :(
Since you're building for something on a par with RedHat 7.3, I'd recommend
building against XFree86 4.2.1, in which case you just need to download
X420-src-1.tgz and the 4.2.0 to 4.2.1 patch file from
http://www.xfree86.org/downloads.html
