RealVNC wins UK's premier engineering prize
19th July 2013: RealVNC, the provider of VNC® remote access software, has been named as the winner of the Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award. The award, presented at a glamorous ceremony at the iconic Battersea Power Station, London, recognizes RealVNC's outstanding innovation, commercial success and contribution to society.
The MacRobert Award is the UK's longest running and most prestigious national prize for engineering innovation and is decided by a panel of distinguished British engineers and entrepreneurs from a range of disciplines. RealVNC was presented with the MacRobert Award gold medal and £50,000 cash prize by HRH The Princess Royal.
RealVNC's technology, which allows a computer screen to be remotely accessed and controlled from another device, is one of the most ubiquitous software solutions with over a billion copies worldwide. VNC is available on virtually every type of device that has a screen, making it the most widely ported software application. It is now an official part of the internet, alongside web and email protocols.
